Environmental Friendly Painting

Environmentally Friendly Painting

The painting industry is rapidly developing, by minimizing household toxins our environment is respected, preserved protected. We make use of popular ecofriendly products i.e. use of LOW VOC paints. VOC stands for “volatile organic compounds”.
VOC’s are found in all paints and are basically carbon solvents that release toxic elements. These solvents helps because they make paint spreadable and help them from freezing and also stick to the wall. The negative effect of these carbon solvents is that they evaporate into the atmosphere, and omit toxic elements unhealthy for humans.
However low-VOC paints is now available; this new paint does not contain toxic characteristics. Though oil-based paints, which were once considered the paint of choice years ago are already phased out completely from our paint product lines. It will be hard to find oil-based paint the reason is that oil paints release much higher VOC than latex paints. However latex paints of today are far better in more ways than oil-based paints.

Advantages of a latex paint:

  • Faster drying time
  • Durability like oil-based paints
  • Similar covering ability
  • Easier cleanup
  • Less fading to nature elements i.e. sun
  • Superior adhesion
  • Better surface breathability
  • Little or no VOC toxins being released into your house and the environment

In situations when oil products are unavoidable, low odour oil paints and primers are the preferred choice.  Soon latex paints will be the only choice of paint in the near future.  Furthermore, with the continual emphasis on eco-friendly products and concerns for the environment, low-VOC latex based paints will be much more common as the paint choice for the present and future.

When oil products are unavoidable, low odour oil paints and primers is the preferred choice. Soon latex paints will be the only choice of paint in the near future.
At NkyPro Painting etc., we take this very seriously and try to use low-VOC latex-based paints as much as possible. Most major paint companies use low-VOC latex-based paints. Next time you are at the paint store to buy paint, simply ask the sales representative if they have any low-VOC paint products.

We recommend Benjamin Moore: Natural Waterborne Interior Paint + Primer (511) because they are:
